PS3 Launch Delayed Until November 2006
March 16, 2006
Sony has announced that it will delay the launch of its PlayStation 3 console, originally scheduled for early 2006, until November 2006, as the standardization of the Blu-ray DVD format has fallen behind schedule. Sony plans to have a monthly production capacity of one million PS3 by November and reach a total production of six million units by March 2007. PS3 will be simultaneously launched in Japan, the United States, and Europe.
